Which documents to ask a raw material supplier for

A good raw material with incomplete documents is a problem: it can block goods-in, an audit or a product launch. This is the minimum worth asking for.
Before buying
- Product specification sheet
- Allergen and GMO declaration
- The manufacturer's food safety certificates: IFS, BRCGS or FSSC 22000
- The manufacturer's bio certificate, if you buy a bio version
With every shipment
- Certificate of analysis (CoA) for the lot
- Invoice and packing list
- Transport document: CMR by truck, bill of lading (B/L) by sea
- Certificate of origin and health certificate when the destination requires them
- For bio imports from outside the EU, the certificate of inspection (COI) issued in TRACES
What to check
That the lot number on the CoA matches the bags, that values fall within your specification, and that production and expiry dates fit your production plan.
At Nafamar we check these documents against the contract before goods leave. If you like, we can send you the documents for any product before you ask for a quote.
